Establish who is taking the wheel

If several travel companions plan to share driving duties, establish how additional motorists are added to the agreement. Ask the provider about qualification requirements for secondary drivers, whether age parameters affect who can drive, and if each person must be physically present at vehicle collection.

Build leeway into collection and return

Coordinating multiple passengers and loading luggage often takes longer than anticipated. When setting pick-up and drop-off times, factor in a sensible schedule buffer. Check with the provider how strict turnaround windows are and what grace periods apply should travel delays slow your return.

Clarify the full cost profile upfront

Dividing shared trip expenses works best when the final bill holds no surprises. Ask early about mileage allowances for touring, charges associated with additional named drivers, and any standard security pre-authorisations required on payment cards so everyone understands their contribution.

Match vehicle size to luggage and passengers

A full complement of passengers with bags for a multi-day itinerary needs substantial boot space, not merely enough passenger seats. Describe your group size, gear volume, and route when enquiring rather than requesting a specific model. Vehicle availability can fluctuate, so remaining adaptable regarding make and body style ensures a comfortable trip.
